When Roger Kalia threw his hat in the ring for the role of music director at the Bakersfield Symphony in Bakersfield, California, he probably didn’t realize the audition would include wrestling.
As a part of his initial visit to Bakersfield, Kalia had an opportunity to meet the community he hopes to support during a fundraiser for the California State University, Bakersfield wrestling program. As 23ABC News explains, Kalia got a chance to meet with Super Bowl champion and CSUB alum Stephen Neal during the trip as well.
Kalia says he hopes to bring new ideas as he steps into the leadership role in California, a move from his current role as associate conductor of the Charlotte Symphony in Charlotte, North Carolina.
